Flu season is upon us and like my friend Mac says, “Enough with fright night, every single day!” He’s referring to the media, of course. You know the broadcast network news that seems more like a soap opera, than an informational status report of current events happening in your neighborhood and around the world.
I’d have to go with “propaganda spewer” too on that score. Seems an appropriate word considering some of its synonyms are vomit, puke and throw up. The term fear mongrels, comes to mind as well.
Same old, same old…you can turn it off for an entire week, turn it back on and hear the same old stories, reiterated for dramatic effect, just like a soap opera.
You might as well watch Judge Judy. (I hate that show, btw.) But at least she has different defendants everyday. On the news, those court cases drag on forever, and then the newscasters decide to editorialize them with their own slanted viewpoints. Um, hello? Just the facts, please. Give us just the facts.
Weather reporting is hysterical. Obviously, if you tell us it’s going to be in the 20’s, we’ll pretty much figure out it’s gonna be bone-chilling! But you go right on ahead and make those shivery shakes on the t.v. screen and stutter your voice so we can’t understand a word you’re saying. We’ll just look at the diagram over your shoulder to see the 7-day forcast, so we know what we’ll be dealing with, okay?
Yes, Mac. You have a point. But you have to admit, it is kind of funny!
That’s all for now,
See you again soon.
