Trust is one of those things people think they deserve, when in actuality it is something that should be earned. Sadly I’m a little bit cynical when it comes to handing out trust willy-nilly these days. So many leaders, governments, charities, individuals etc. have publically proven they don’t deserve it, because they throw words and promises around like confetti, only to sweep them up and toss them out with the trash. The concept of trust has been badly tarnished in the process.
What’s in it for the little guy, if all the big guys take advantage of him? Are we really just players on a stage, some support actors, while the stars in this play we call life battle things out for themselves? How did they get to be stars anyway? Who the heck are these people claiming power and making decisions that affect the rest of us?
Oh, some of them were chosen – by us! Others hit a streak of luck and never looked back. A few had God given talents (they exploited).
Then there are the rest of us…
Good and noble people, living in solid communities with our families…
We are the ones who determine who is and isn’t trusted. We hold the keys to popularity, the power to renew the importance of trust in our midst. Ours is not to glorify the idiots. For we are meant to trivialize their antics, in the name of truths no one can challenge.
