Hunger Statistics and The Holiday Food Drive Blogfest

By M. J. Joachim

In the spirit of the holidays, and considering the needs of those less fortunate, Tina Downey and I are working together co-hosting a special blog hop here in Blog Land called The Holiday Food Drive Blogfest. You’re all invited to join us and participate anyway you can.

Hunger is just one of those things no one should have to suffer. Yet we know that millions of people do so all the time. According to 2013 World Hunger and Poverty Facts Statistics, poverty and harmful economic systems are the two most prominent reasons for people going hungry. “An estimated 14.5 percent of American households were food insecure at least some time during the year in 2012, meaning they lacked access to enough food for an active, healthy life for all household members,” states the USDA.

It is my hope that many of you will take this opportunity to be effectively human in blog land. This is a chance to use our blogs in an extremely positive way, highlighting the issue of hunger and promoting organizations trying to do something about it, both on the Internet and in our personal communities.

Please take the time to visit The Holiday Food Drive Blogfest, and learn how you can help, simply by writing and sharing a blog post.

Thank you so much for visiting Effectively Human. I look forward to seeing you again real soon.
