Letters to Self: Yearning to Be Your Best Self

Letters to Self is a Self-help series written by M. J. Joachim, designed to encourage and promote healing and self-awareness for those who read it.

Dear Self,

Yearn to become more, always yearn to be the best you, you can be. Never stop learning or trying. You are your ultimate best friend, and only you have the power to leave your yesterday’s behind you, moving forward today.

Yes, I know, I keep telling you to release the past. It’s such an important lesson to learn, if you ever want be free and able to embrace today’s light. Don’t you see? You’re the only one stopping yourself. No one else has that power over you.

Oh, sure, people share all sorts of opinions. Some even manage to stop you in your tracks, putting obstacles in your way, or flat out denying you, what you know you can rightfully have. There’s not much you can do about physical and political barriers sometimes, but there is something you can do about emotional ones.

You can yearn to conquer them, release them and refuse to let them have power over you. You can make decisions that change the course you’re on, even physical and political ones. You can rewrite the script, because you are the master of your destiny, and only you will be held accountable, when it’s time to reach your ultimate goal.

The choice is yours, and I sincerely hope you always yearn to become more.
